Spitting into the wind is never a good idea, but today we're experiencing some severe weather. As soon as I heard the leaves whirling around and crackling outside our window this morning, I knew the expected wind storm had started early.
Normally our wind comes out of the west, but this is coming from the east, shooting up over the Sandia Mountains and whistling through Tijeras Pass. Nearly 30 years ago we lived in a mobile home right at the base of the pass. The wind would come roaring through, get a toehold under the sheet metal of the roof and ripple it the whole length. It sounded like a herd of stampeding elephants. Fortunately, now we live in a much more solid house, but with winds steady at over 40 mph this afternoon and gusts heading up to 60 mph, it's still noisy.
I never spit into the wind. You can if you want to, but I wouldn't recommend it--especially today.
