I'm back to being a frequent flyer at the public library. For a long time, I would just grab something off my personal bookshelf and re-read it. You can only do that for just so long, and then you decide you need some new stuff.
When I go to the library, I don't just come home with one book--I come home with a stack like this one, which is not a photo of my books, but I have read some of these. My pile would be interspersed with some New Mexico history books and nonfiction that I picked up at the library's used book sale.
With age, my tastes have changed and I'm quicker to bail out on a book early on if I decide I don't care for it. And if that happens to be at 3:00 a.m. and I'm reading because I can't sleep, I don't want to not have another book to pick up.
